La Mesa Teen Summit
The City of La Mesa is hosting a Teen Summit on Saturday February 25th from 10:00am-2:00pm at La Mesa Community Services Nan Couts Cottage, 5045 Memorial Drive, La Mesa, 91942.
The purpose of the Teen Summit is for La Mesa Teens to come together in a setting to discuss their issues of concern and their desires for community programs and services specific to their age group. Participants will have an opportunity to address and suggest solutions to any problems that may be identified at the summit, and to learn about the community they live in and about civic government process. The information gathered will be compiled and presented to the La Mesa City Council by La Mesa's Youth Advisory Commission in March 2012.
Requirements for teens selected to attend the Teen Summit are as follows:
1. Must be a La Mesa Resident
2. Must be a current student in 9th and/or 10th grade.
3. They are looking for the average teen that is well-behaved, conscientious student, and not necessarily a straight "A" student or the most involved in clubs or sports. We desire to provide selected teens the opportunity to shine and add this youth engagement project to their college applications.
Students interested must fill out the packet found under "DOCUMENTS on the right hand side of the webpage. All packets must be turned in to Mrs. Cech (room 201). All packets are due Wednesday, February 15.
